124.1 Surgical markers can be injected into the wall of the colon to identify the site of a lesion for subsequent endoscopic evaluation and can also be seen on the serosal side of the surface and guide the surgeon to the site of a lesion. Surgical tattoos as lesion markers are indelible, last forever, and are an aid to the laparoscopic surgeon whose ability to palpate the bowel is limited.
