Use of commercial software to “navigate” inside the colon using a joystick
134.3 Once the three-dimensional set is obtained, one can use commercial software to “navigate” inside it using a joystick, as shown in this movie. In a “bright” lumen MR colonography polyps (generally greater than 10 mm diameter) would be seen as filling defects in the colon. In a “dark” lumen MR colonography the images show bright walls against a very dark lumen. Injection of contrast further brightens up the wall and polyps enhance very well as the one in the ascending colon of a patient shown in the panel below. Again, one can reconstruct the images in three-dimension thus obtaining a virtual endoscopy view of the polyp.
