124.7 Methylene blue is used to dye spray the colon in a patient with chronic ulcerative colitis. Two areas of dysplasia were identified after dye spray that were not seen with standard white light endoscopy. Chromoendoscopy can enhance the visual appearance of surface abnormalities to bring out the presence of intraepithelial neoplasia in some circumstances where white light may not be revealing.
